He talked to us about starring in the movie, his relationships with co-stars Kevin Bacon and John Goodman, how he grew up with guns, and shooting very long action sequences with a lit cigarette in his mouth.

Actors often talk about wanting to mix it up, to play different types of roles.
So far, so good for Garrett Hedlund, who was born in Minnesota but moved to Scottsdale in the ninth grade. After playing decent sorts in such films as Friday Night Lights and Georgia Rule (opposite Lindsay Lohan), he portrays Billy Darley, a full-on bad guy, in Death Sentence, a brutal revenge fantasy starring Kevin Bacon.

Garrett Hedlund makes a change from to his first bad guy role. His career starting role as Patroclus in 2004 “Troy” seems long passed and the actor’s career is blossoming with “Death Sentence” being the second of his releases this year; the first being “Georgia Rule” with Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan and Felicity Huffman.
